The minimum ripening age required to officially qualify as 'Parmigiano Reggiano' is 12 months.
Parmesan cheese can be grated or cut into small pieces to add extra flavor to most recipes, or eaten in pieces with honey or drizzled with balsamic vinegar.
Parmesan is naturally lactose-free and is therefore also recommended for children.
