A cheese with history

Parmigiano Reggiano, often called "the king of cheeses", has a long and fascinating history dating back to the Middle Ages. The Benedictine monks of the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy are believed to be the first to make this cheese. To this day, Parmigiano Reggiano is still produced using the same traditional methods, and only in a specific area of Italy that includes Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena and parts of Bologna and Mantua.

Parmigiano Reggiano was one of the first products in the world to be awarded the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) in 1996. This seal of quality guarantees that the cheese is produced according to strict rules and traditions that ensure its authenticity and unique taste.
